Site Safety and Health Officer

Founded in 1927, Head Inc. is a general contractor that specializes in concrete and asphalt paving on airfields. Since its inception, Head Inc. has been involved in public works projects. Our work experience includes projects for the Department of Energy, the Navy, the Corps of Engineers and various municipalities, as well as private industry.
The position is responsible for administering and managing the Safety and Health Management System, and the corresponding regulations that relate to the safety of our work, for an assigned location in pursuit of continuous safety improvement.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct and monitor weekly training, regulatory compliance and strategic initiatives in order to ensure knowledge and awareness
· Perform inspections, observations and audits to reduce incidents and ensure health and the well-being of our employees.
· Investigate and communicate near misses, incidents and claims to make certain that Company interests are preserved.
· Manage periodic checks to ensure plans, corrective actions and deficiencies are corrected and documented in a timely fashion.
· Requirements, knowledge, skills:
· Experience as SSHO on Heavy Civil Jobs
· Familiarity with USACE Safety and Health Requirements manual (EM 385-1-1)
· Strong leadership skills
· Proficient with database operations and Microsoft Excel and Word Required
· Good oral and written communication skills
Education/Certifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health or related field, preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction or applicable industry with safety related responsibilities required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Mine and Safety Professional (CMSP) certification preferred.
· OSHA 30 certification (may obtain after start of job)
· CPR/First Aid Certificate
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,100.00 - $90,000.00 per year
