Job Summary:
Retail Fishing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the store's fishing department, responsible for staff leadership, training, and development, inventory management, sales analysis, visual merchandising, and providing expert customer service to drive sales. Key qualifications include extensive practical fishing experience, strong sales and communication skills, retail business acumen, and the ability to engage the local fishing community.
Essential Job Functions :
- Provide world-class customer service, act as a brand ambassador, and lead sales efforts to achieve goals.
- Train, coach, and develop retail associates, recruit new staff, and motivate the team to meet sales and service standards.
- Manage inventory flow, ensure proper product placement and signage, and maintain visual standards for the department.
- Offer extensive, hands-on knowledge of fishing equipment, techniques, and local fisheries to assist customers and train staff.
- Build and foster relationships with the local fishing community through events, education, and active participation in fishing activities.
- Oversee the daily operations of the fishing department, including sales analysis and computer systems management.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of retail management experience with expert knowledge of store operations.
- Retail and sales management experience, with an emphasis on sporting goods or fishing is often required.
- Extensive, multidiscipline, hands-on experience in fishing, including knowledge of local fisheries, knots, rigging, and techniques.
- Must have specialty and apparel retail experience from a sales driven environment.
- Excellent abilities to lead and motivate teams, communicate with customers, and present information effectively.
- Strong understanding of retail sales, visual merchandising, sales analysis, and the use of business programs.
- Proficient in computer skills, including point-of-sale and inventory management systems.
- Expert knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
- Must be able to move throughout all areas of the store including the outside perimeter.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, reach, move, and lift merchandise.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- You must pass a background check and provide references upon request.
