VMG is seeking an experienced and dynamic Bilingual Local Facility Chaplain to serve onsite at a facility located at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The Chaplain will establish and administer a Religious Services Program to support the spiritual and emotional needs of individuals residing within the facility. The primary goal of the Bilingual Local Facility Chaplain is to ensure residents have consistent access to religious practices and pastoral support, while providing spiritual care and guidance during times of personal need or crisis. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to effectively serve the population.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Local Facility Chaplain will:
- Make regular rounds to all housing units, including restrictive housing, and respond to the religious needs of residents.
- Actively recruit and coordinate a local network of volunteers to meet the diverse needs of the population.
- Collaborate with volunteers and ensure equitable engagement across faith groups.
- Develop and manage religious programs at the facility, including:
o Coordinating and directing all religious activities
o Providing guidance to facility leadership on religious matters
- Schedule services and classes in coordination with facility staff.
- Promote interfaith understanding among residents and staff.
- Recommend and procure items to enhance the Religious Services Program (subject to approval).
- Coordinate and support religious holiday worship services, ensuring access to appropriate items and specialty meals.
- Plan and lead weekly religious instruction sessions, either as recurring classes or special events.
- Recommend religious literature, property, and specialty items for commissary availability, with final approval by facility leadership.
- Follow applicable policies and procedures regarding marriage requests and other chaplaincy-related matters.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Religion, Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of ministry experience
OR
- No degree and a minimum of 10 years of ministry experience
- Demonstrated experience, certification, and credentials to provide spiritual care, manage volunteers, and lead a comprehensive Religious Services Program

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
