Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our team. As a Purchaser, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services necessary for our operations. Your expertise in supply chain management and procurement will be crucial in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
The purchaser job will transform as the store grows. It is outlined below.
In the first phase, the purchaser is in charge of placing our daily purchases/orders from our main 3 suppliers. If the manager or another employee is in need of a product for a customer, the purchaser must locate it and order it in the most efficient, but highest profitability as possible. Meaning - if you need to order something from a supplier that charges shipping, see what else we may need from them to lower the average cost of shipping on the item.
The purchaser will be in charge of placing our stocking orders with all suppliers and keeping track of what is coming and when.
There will be times when all orders are placed and the purchaser will not have any research to do or special orders to handle. So during phase 1, the purchaser will also act as a stocking employee and salesperson in order to learn the product better and have an understanding of what they are ordering. The purchaser needs to know the products and have an understanding of their role within the boat and its use.
PHASE 2:
We are expanding and we will be opening a second location. We will need our purchaser to maintain their role of daily purchasing and ordering as well as larger stocking orders. Their role will transition from the previously mentioned stocking and salesperson, to strictly purchasing. They will need to place all orders for both locations and keep track of what goes where and the appropriate quantities, so when the product comes in, it is split up correctly.
If the purchaser finds themselves with nothing to do or being all caught up on their work, the purchaser must walk the aisles of all locations and physically see if anything is standing out as missing, incorrect, or should have. The purchaser may also visit competitors and see what they may be doing that we can utilize as well to improve.
