Position Overview:
The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management for our client's farm operations. This position will be responsible for managing accounting processes, financial reporting, budgeting, human resources and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, experience in the agriculture industry, and the ability to provide strategic financial leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain financial budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against targets and providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigate financial risks.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity, including monitoring cash balances, forecasting cash needs, and optimizing cash management strategies.
- Coordinate and facilitate the annual financial audit process, working closely with external auditors to provide documentation and support.
- Prepare and file various tax returns and reports, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives and business decisions, including capital investments, pricing strategies, and expansion opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments, including operations, sales, and procurement, to support cross-functional initiatives and projects as needed.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial management and reporting.
- Previous experience in the agriculture industry preferred, with knowledge of farm accounting practices and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, with experience in ERP systems preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative to drive process improvements.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
