Title: Associate Director for Postsecondary Retention and Student Support - Take Stock in College
Location: Take Stock in Children Statewide Office, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Full-time Position: Salaried – 40 hours per week
Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000 per year, plus benefits
Take Stock in Children of Florida helps break the poverty cycle through education, providing scholarships, mentorship, and hope. Since 1995, Take Stock in Children has fueled the college dreams of over 41,000 students throughout Florida. Our network of 45 local affiliate programs works closely with community and corporate leaders, school districts, and philanthropic organizations to increase college readiness, enrollment, and completion among Florida’s academically qualified, low-income students.
TSIC has provided services to over 41,000 children in Florida, including college readiness coaching, advocacy, scholarships, and mentorship. As a result, 97% of TSIC students complete high school, 92% enter college, and 70% complete their postsecondary education (a rate surpassing that of at-risk peers).
The Position: The Associate Director for Postsecondary Retention and Student Support is responsible for engaging in program activities that support and ensure students’ postsecondary degree attainment.
Responsibilities of the role include the following:
- Assisting leadership in establishing Take Stock in College’s overall program goals, objectives, and timelines.
- Assisting in designing new college retention programming to ensure first-generation student success, enhance the student experience, and postsecondary degree attainment.
- Coordinating processes and systems to identify targeted students and provide intrusive, appreciative, and transformational support.
- Supporting efforts of the Take Stock in College TEAM as well as the Student Ambassadors.
- Assisting with internal and external communications about Take Stock in College.
- Help ensure compliance with all grant deliverables.
- Coordinating, planning, and providing on-campus presentations or events when needed.
- Reviewing programmatic and evaluator data for potential innovations and efficiencies.
- Analyze and evaluate students’ persistence and satisfaction with Take Stock in College program initiatives and report key metrics to the President & CEO.
- Research and postsecondary retention trends for first-generation students to integrate into Take Stock in College curriculum and report key metrics to the President & CEO. This would include working on publishing materials in education journals, blogs, etc.
- Contribute and participate in Stock Options’ College Corner section and monthly TSIC newsletters.
- Performing other duties as identified by the TSIC President & CEO.
Core Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the delivery of services to specific student populations.
- National or State certification in related field, i.e. Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- Strong management skills with the ability to manage effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to passionately work towards breaking the cycle of poverty through higher education.
- Ability to manage the progress on multiple, simultaneous project activities.
- Exeptional communication practices and techniques (both written and verbal).
- Demonstrated organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Highly effective communication skills with the ability to motivate students and stakeholders around a common goal.
- Strategic and critical thinking skills, specifically an ability to think innovatively, generate ideas, and implement solutions to solve problems.
General Requirements:
- Registered sex offenders (or anyone required to register) and individuals convicted of a felony crime are prohibited from employment with Take Stock in Children.
- Satisfactory background check and Attestation of Good Moral Character per Florida Statute.
- Ability to work in a classroom, office, and school environment.
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
- Documentation that verifies identity and employability in the United States.
- Proof of any diplomas, degrees, or certificates indicated as a job qualification.
- Two completed reference forms.
- Access to your own private vehicle.
Travel: This position requires at least 10-20% travel both locally and throughout Florida utilizing your own private vehicle.
Note: This position is entirely or largely grant-funded and is therefore subject to the availability of funding that supports TSIC programming.
