Requirements

Class C or higher FDEP wastewater operator license
Valid driver's license

Duties

Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical feeders, ensuring optimal performance.
Use programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to automate and oversee treatment processes.
Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems, plumbing, and heavy equipment to identify maintenance needs or repairs.
Collect and analyze data on water quality parameters, process efficiency, and system performance for reporting purposes.
Perform equipment repairs, troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operation.
Assist with construction activities related to plant upgrades or expansions, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Handle heavy lifting tasks safely during equipment maintenance or installation activities.
Operate heavy machinery such as tanker trucks for chemical deliveries or sludge removal as needed.
Maintain detailed records of operations, maintenance activities, and data logs for compliance and reporting.
Support basic math calculations for chemical dosing, flow rates, and process adjustments to optimize treatment outcomes.

Experience

Prior experience operating wastewater treatment facilities or similar water treatment systems is highly desirable.
Mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, plumbing systems, and general equipment repair is essential.
Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) used in industrial automation.
Demonstrated ability to perform analysis skills for interpreting data trends and troubleshooting system issues.
Physical capability to perform heavy lifting tasks and work in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions.
Basic math skills necessary for chemical calculations, flow measurements, and process adjustments.
Experience operating heavy equipment or construction tools is a plus but not mandatory.
