Florida Keys Children’s Shelter is a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to making a difference in the lives of children, youth, and families through community-focused initiatives and philanthropy. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Development Specialist to lead our fundraising and donor relations efforts.
Position Summary:
The Organization Development Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing fundraising initiatives, including donor acquisition, special events, and capital campaigns. This exempt role reports to the CEO and COO, collaborating with various teams to sustain and expand philanthropic investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors and ensure effective communication with leadership-level donors.
Respond to donors’ needs and align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals.
Lead the organization’s readiness for fundraising efforts, including new donor acquisition, major gifts, planned giving, and grant seeking.
Design and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, training staff and volunteers as needed.
Ensure accurate and timely gift processing, reporting, and donor acknowledgment.
Evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising methods, budgets, and staff/volunteer performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 2 years of relevant fundraising or development experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with a proven track record in planning and executing fundraising campaigns.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to diverse groups, including donors, board members, and the public.
Familiarity with donor management software and fundraising analytics.
Certification as a Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting business, financial, and regulatory documents.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for long periods, occasionally stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to travel within the county, including evening and weekend availability.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
