You will be working with the area’s premier eco tour provider. Since the late 90’s, we have been providing guided experiences in Everglades National Park and surrounding protected lands and waters. We are a small, family owned business that has been recognized locally and internationally as an ethical ecotour provider. We have a long history of loyalty to our guides and creating a close, comfortable working culture. We have worked together with some of our guides for well over a decade.

If you are a “people-person” who enjoys working outdoors, this could be your dream job. We are seeking a kayak guide to lead daily eco tours in the Everglades … Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve and the 10,000 Islands Wildlife Refuge.
Position Overview
- This is a seasonal position, May through October, but with the potential to move into year-round, full-time position
- Relocation to Chokoloskee Island is required for the term
- Responsibilities: Guiding kayak eco tours; interacting with guests; preparing and cleaning of equipment; and backing up and parking of kayak trailers.
- Housing is provided on Chokoloskee Island
Qualifications
- Previous guiding experience (kayak, raft, or outdoor activities) Is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Certifications: First Aid & CPR. Wilderness First Aid/Responder preferred.
- Skills: Ability to lead kayak tours, load/unload kayaks, park kayak trailers and educate guests
- Comfortable paddling for 6 hours daily; two three-hour tours.
- Trailer backing skills (or ability to learn).
- Ability to lift kayaks with guest assistance. Load and unload kayak trailers daily.
- Education in environmental science, biology or similar fields are a bonus. Ability and willingness to learn about the Everglades ecosystems, its flora and fauna, as well as, its history and culture..
- Must have a clean driving record and pass a background check.
Training
Training is approximately two weeks. It will be conducted by the most experienced kayak guides in the Everglades area to ensure that you are confident and competent to guide our kayak eco tours.
Pay
- Free lodging on Chokoloskee Island, FL
- Expectation of $18,000 - $22,000 plus free lodging.
- Actual pay is determined by the number of tours and the number of guests
- $20 - $40 per tour hour plus tips.
- Flexible schedules; Two days off per week. Expect to work most weekends
