Job Details:
The Quality Control Technician (QC) employee is a high-level technician position within the company responsible for ensuring field service quality, inspecting installations, and troubleshooting within the home/premise to meet Fibernow’s high standards. The QC Technician audits fiber to the home (FTTH) installations and troubleshoots more advanced in-home installations including internet and wireless services. The QC Technician is able to utilize more advanced test equipment and testing parameters to solve more complex in-home/premise service impacting issues.
The Quality Control Technician is the single level of QC technicians within Fibernow, and career advancement is dependent upon completion of proper certifications within the company and/or a thorough display of competence within all tasks associated with all technicians.
Specific Job Duties:
- Audit installations and service calls for IPTV based set top boxes (STB), Access Points, Dish Network, cable modems, multimedia terminal adapters, over the air antenna signals (OTA), Dish Network based L-Band systems, phone service and various wireless CPE.
- Diagnose and repair complex technical issues that standard field technicians may have missed.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting of Access Points (wireless) within the home to ensure a high quality of signal and performance.
- Interface with field service technicians, both internal and external, to provide guidance on managed services and resolutions for escalated customer issues.
- Handles business and VIP customer installations and service calls including IPTV, DISH Network, internet wired and/or wireless services and RF based services.
- Works with Engineering and Service Technicians to install and/or troubleshoot new or existing wireless networks operated by the company.
- Documents signal levels, both RSSI and interference, on Access Points and eliminate all points of concern.
- Understands the principles and basic functionality of a FTTx system and can interact with Service Technicians to help diagnose issues.
- Works with advanced signal level meters, PON meters and fiber power meters to troubleshoot and verify various customer services.
- Understands and utilizes an OTDR/TDR to facilitate the repair of damaged underground coax and/or fiber cabling at the home or premise.
- Understands and utilizes advanced signal level reading such as BER, MER and CNR to diagnose premise issues.
- Acts as a mentor assisting the Broadband Technicians in daily tasks and assignments providing guidance and education on proper techniques and safe and efficient work practices.
- Formally reports findings as required
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate at heights up to 40 feet using extension ladders and/or bucket truck. Ability to work while standing 50-70% of the time.
- Work in all weather conditions and in various spaces such as attics and crawl spaces. Must be able to perform the tasks assigned in these areas that may be poorly ventilated and where there may be dirt, dust, noise, insects, rodents, pets, and cleaning supplies.
- Work in areas near power lines and active electrical services.
- Familiarity with computer operating systems and a variety of customer devices including smartphones, computers, routers, modems, set top boxes and wireless devices.
- Ability to and willingness to learn to use various handheld devices including signal level meters, spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters as well as computer provided laptop and various software.
- A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record that fall within company requirements. Must be able to travel to and from assigned territories and company facilities, including during inclimate weather.

- Completes all necessary paperwork associated with all jobs during his/her shift and submits to supervisor in a timely, neat, and professional manner.
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to work a rotating on call schedule.
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
