Salary: $27.04-$40.56 hourly. Commensurate with experience and education.
Summary: The Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordination, supervision, and implementation of youth and adult programs.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Weekend and evening work may be scheduled as required. Shifts may change periodically to provide department coverage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director with long-term strategies, and business planning for the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Assist Director with the planning, development, and execution of a variety of Recreation programs.
- Maximize public understanding and increase awareness of the benefits of Parks and Recreation in the community.
- Assist in identifying trends and evaluating current programs to ensure a high degree of innovation and quality in services.
- Assist with outreach and marketing to maximize and optimize community satisfaction.
- Solicit sponsorship, advertising and donations for programs and events as required.
- Assist with the design, development, planning and implementation of City of Marathon Parks and Recreation special community events.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, and coaching of volunteers, providing ongoing support to ensure retention.
- Serve as the liaison between the city and other youth and community sports organizations.
- Compiles, formats, and submits departmental advertisements to local media outlets. Prepares and submits routine advertisements.
- Screens department related citizen complaints and problems and addresses these issues whenever possible.
- Assists in the processing of various department forms, contracts and/or permits.
- Operates standard office equipment including personal computer, copier, fax, and ten-key calculator.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise the coordination of City-wide youth sports programs.
- Supervise the coordination of City-wide adult sports programs.
- Supervise the coordination of City-wide arts and crafts programs.
Qualification Requirements:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Experience with event management, making presentations, and working with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and other internal and external contacts.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree, in related field with at least 2 years parks and recreation or physical education experience. Significant experience with progressively responsible administrative duties may be considered in lieu of education. Able to work routinely unsupervised, must have experience with youth programs, sports, staff supervision, budgeting, and fiscal control. An equivalent combination of education and related experience acceptable.
Miscellaneous:
