Position Summary
The Mascot – Sheldon C. Turtle represents the aquarium, promoting on-site and off site educational programs, as well as at community events, school presentations, and activities.

Essential Functions
- Performs as Sheldon C. Turtle at Key West Aquarium and community appearances.
- Represent the Key West Aquarium’s mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner on and off site.
- Maintains the proper use of the Sheldon C. Turtle Costume as directed.
- Interact, in character, with guests and staff at the Key West Aquarium and at community events.
- Distribute promotional items, and pose for photographs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as a team within the scope of established rules and regulations.
- An outgoing and creative personality
- Ability to perform in front of an audience
- Must be 5.6 or taller in height and able to wear the Sheldon C. Turtle costume comfortably and support the weight of the costume for extended periods of time.
- Must have good posture and physical ability to perform Sheldon C. Turtle actions such as standing for klong periods of time, kneeling, reaching, bending, and waving hands/arms.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Prior performance or interpretational experience strongly preferred.
Have a passion for helping people and making their Key West Aquarium experience a memorable one.
