Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Dishwasher/Prep Cook to join our Old Town Bakery Family! The dishwasher/prep-cook is responsible for keeping the kitchen clean and assisting in food preparation. Responsibilities include washing dishes, pots, and pans, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work areas, and performing basic food preparation tasks like chopping vegetables or portioning ingredients under the guidance of a cook.
Essential Functions
- Wash, sanitize, and store all dishes, glassware, flatware, and cooking equipment by hand or using a commercial dishwasher.
- Sweep, scrub, and mop floors; wipe down counters and equipment; and maintain a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, and peeling vegetables; preparing sauces; and portioning ingredients for the line cook.
- Restock supplies in the kitchen, serving stations, and refrigerators. Ensure all necessary items are organized and stored properly.
- Remove trash and clean garbage cans as needed to maintain a sanitary kitchen.
- Other duties assigned by your manager or owner.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, from 11 AM to 3:30 PM and may vary based on business needs. This includes weekends and holidays. Two shifts available (4 days and 3 days per week).
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED is often preferred but not always required.
- At least one (1) year of dishwashing or prep-cooking experience is required.
- Basic cooking techniques and processes
- Understanding food safety, sanitation, and storage guidelines.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment
