Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grocery Associate to join our retail team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the store, maintaining product availability, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of handling various responsibilities within a fast-paced grocery environment. Experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or retail sales is highly valued. Bilingual skills are a plus to assist our diverse customer base.
Duties
Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Welcome and engage guests with warmth, professionalism, and efficiency.
- Take café and coffee orders, manage multiple orders at once, and assist at the register.
- Maintain a high standard of guest service throughout the market and café experience. •
- Respond to guest concerns with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Market Oversight & Administration
- Oversee the visual presentation and cleanliness of the market at all times.
- Merchandise shelves with attention to product flow, aesthetics, and brand integrity.
- Input and manage purchase orders for butcher shop, retail goods, and café inventory.
- Track and reconcile inventory, deliveries, and vendor communications.
- Daily Operations & Coordination
- Execute opening and closing duties depending on shift, ensuring all systems and spaces are prepped and secured.
- Maintain alignment and clear communication with the kitchen, butcher shop, café staff, and leadership.
- Monitor product levels and guest traffic to anticipate needs and adjust on the fly.
- Leadership & Team Culture
- Lead by example, modeling professionalism, urgency, and hospitality.
- Foster a positive and collaborative environment among team members.
- Stock shelves and organize products to ensure attractive and accessible displays
- Manage inventory levels and perform inventory control procedures
- Load and unload shipments as needed
- Assist with shipping & receiving tasks to ensure timely replenishment of stock
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the storage and sales areas
- Operate cash registers and perform cashiering duties accurately
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions and assisting shoppers
- Support merchandising efforts to promote sales and product visibility
- Perform packaging tasks for products and prepare items for sale or shipment
Skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory management and data entry
- Experience with stocking, merchandising, shipping & receiving, and general store maintenance
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse customers
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing
- Knowledge of grocery store operations, produce handling, and retail sales techniques
- Good customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
