Overview
Smart Building Integrators, LLC (SBI) is seeking a seasoned Low Voltage TECH02 to join our team. The ideal candidate can work in commercial, industrial, and construction settings delivering installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber indoor and outside plant structured cabling systems, Access Control, CCTV, with working knowledge of public safety distributed Antenna Systems (PDAS), Cellular distributed antenna systems (CDAS), as well as supporting pathways and enclosure methods. As TECH02, you will be responsible for the proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of these systems. You will need to work in a fast-paced environment and meet occasional travel requirements for project-based work throughout CONUS.
Responsibilities
- Pulling and routing various cabling methods such as twisted pair, fiber (MMF, SMF), composite access control, Siamese, etc. in commercial and industrial settings.
- Properly terminating various end connectors such as CAT(x) jacks, fiber, coax, etc.
- Read, interpret and adhere to construction documents and schedules such as Division 27.
- Implement structured cabling systems and equipment as per construction documentation.
- Properly utilize test equipment such as certifier, qualifier, OTDR and Visual Fault Finder (VFS) to provide test results and troubleshoot various types of cabling methods.
- Properly utilize voltage meters to test and troubleshoot.
- Properly install, suspend and support cables correctly utilizing cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze, or other local code approved hardware hanging methods.
- Properly build open frame wall racks, floor mount vertical racks, and various wall and floor mounted enclosures.
- Properly install Access Control components such as door strikes, mag locks, card readers, REX buttons, PIR, control boards and enclosures.
- Properly install and test CCTV cameras, camera mounts, junction boxes, NVRs, and associated equipment as per design documents.
- Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls and fire sleeves utilizing local approved code materials and hardware.
- Properly install grounding and bonding of structured cabling systems and equipment.
- Document installation activities, including cable routes, test results, and as-built drawings.
- Completion of daily progress reports.
- Perform MDF and IDF buildouts and refresh activities that consist of pre-deploy documentation of existing interconnectivity of customer equipment, disassembling, building out new infrastructure, and reassembling network, CCTV, Wi-Fi, etc. equipment back to working state as per pre-deployment status. This is considered infrastructure cleanup and refresh activities.
Requirements
- At least 3 years in an advanced technical role consistent with the Key Responsibilities.
- High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED).
- Trade School Certificates or associate’s degree in fields like electronics, telecommunications, or computer networking preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, or RF Engineering a plus.
- Certifications such as BICSI Installer 2 copper or fiber (INST2) and/or CNet Training Certified Network Infrastructure Technician (CNIT), Certified Integrated Infrastructure Technician (CIIT), Certified Outside Plant Technician (COPT) are beneficial.
- Advanced knowledge in twisted pair cabling adhering to ANSI and TIA/EIA standards.
- Ability to read, interpret and adhere to construction documents and schedules such as Division 27.
- Strong knowledge utilizing test equipment such as certifier, qualifier, OTDR and Visual Fault Finder (VFS) to provide test results and troubleshoot various types of cabling methods.
- Ability to implement structured cabling systems and equipment as per construction documentation.
- Knowledge of the various types of copper and fiber cabling as well as where and how they should be installed.
- Advanced knowledge installing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber optic cable systems.
- Ability to examine and determine the best approach for cabling pathways.
- Experience working with aerial and underground installation methods.
- Ability to examine and install conduits inside and outside of commercial buildings.
- Experience network equipment such as routers, switches, wireless access points in commercial environments.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Ability to complete and communicate daily progress reports .
- Problem solver with technical aptitude, computer, and software application use.
- Accurately measure distances, using measuring tape.
- Communication, professionalism, time management, organization, critical thinking, responsibility/reliability.
- Interpret analytics from soft tools such as meters and handheld devices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Aerial and Lift experience a plus.
- Ability to work in outside environments.
- Able to work flexible schedule that includes weekends and extended weekdays.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to lift to 45 lbs.
- Able to use basic power hand tools.
- Able to work safely within a commercial, industrial, and construction environment that includes in-building and outside plant work.
- Able to participate in project travel throughout the Continental United States.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Adhere to both company and customer safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Basic knowledge and experience with email such as Microsoft Outlook and office suite.
- Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Safely operate and navigate a company vehicle in constantly changing environments.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods in any season and/or during inclement weather.
- Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned territories and facilities.
- Ability to meet the minimum requirements to work for SBI listed under conditions of employment.
Conditions of Employment
- You must live in the United States, specifically Central Florida area.
- You must possess a valid US Employment Authorization Document (EAD), be a U.S. citizen, Valid US Social Security, at least 18 years of age (dual-national US citizens are eligible).
- You must be willing to travel throughout the Continental United States.
- You must successfully complete a thorough drug screening, and a comprehensive background investigation.
