Basic Scope/Purpose:
The Education Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and initiatives that align with the District’s goals and objectives. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for managing the District relationship with the local school system and other educational programs.
Reporting Responsibilities:
The Education Coordinator reports to the Executive Director or Designee.
Working Conditions:
The work environment is usually an office, school room or vehicle, but occasionally could include proximity to helicopters, airplane hangars, and workshops. Occasional exposure to all types of weather is required when the position is working outside, exposed to sun, rain, mud, insects, and other wild animals. Occasional regional and national travel may be required. Noise level is usually low but occasional exposure to moderate noise levels when around aircraft or spray machines. Working around chemicals, which are stored, handled, applied/used, and disposed of according to exact labeling instructions, is required occasionally.
Light physical activity is required on an occasional basis including lifting up to 50lbs, reaching and pulling with arms, stooping, kneeling and bending, walking, standing and climbing stairs. Excellent vision, both close and distance, is frequently required.
Essential Functions (Without Accommodations)
- Assist in developing, organizing, and coordinating public education programs about preventing and controlling mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases for various audience types.
- Work in collaboration with the internal and external partners to develop and design age-appropriate, standards-based programs accompanied by curriculum for school groups and create targeted messaging and educational presentations and documents specific to various stakeholder groups.
- Assist programs throughout the schools and community.
- Assist with District at community fairs and events with an educational booth and outreach programs and materials.
- Develop, implement, and maintain relationships and partnerships local school system, educational centers, and home school events.
- Collaborate Create, edit, and publish literature, brochures, newsletters, special reports, graphics, and video material about mosquito control for public distribution, including educational brochures, informative newsletters, detailed reports, engaging graphics, and instructional videos.
- Assist plan, organize, and conduct demonstrations and displays for mosquito biology and control at special events, county fairs, conferences, schools, civic groups, and festivals.
- Keep and maintain all equipment for public education in good working condition.
- Stay informed and up to date on the mosquito control industry and techniques.
- Assist in gathering, planning, creating, and distributing District relevant information, such as updates on mosquito control initiatives, educational resources, and community outreach events, via appropriate media outlets.
- Assist other departments as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Experience and knowledge of multi-media, print, and audio-visual production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods for showing and promoting the District’s service and mission.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of current best practices in instructional learning.
3. Knowledge of mosquito control techniques and practices within the first 3 months of employment.
4. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and comprehension skills, verbally and in writing.
6. Ability to differentiate between audiences and target messaging according to the audience.
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, citizens, teachers, partners, other governmental agencies, and the business community.
8. Maintain adaptability and flexibility.
Education, Training, & Experience:
Teaching credential and Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with major course work in science, education or related field is required. At least three years of teaching experience.
Master's Degree preferred.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a Level 2 background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
