ABOUT: Classic Harbor Line Key West has operated the Schooner America 2.0 annually from November to May since 2011. During her Key West sailing season, the boat often runs 2-4 trips a day, including cruise ship charters, sunset sails, special events, evening sails, and holiday trips.
The Classic Harbor Line Key West General Manager oversees all operational, administrative, financial, and personnel functions for the Key West location. This role includes day-to-day operations execution, long-term strategic planning, localized marketing, and providing staff guidance and leadership.
Our Key West location is the smallest in terms of fleet size and staff. Due to the nature of the business, the General Manager plays a key role in day-to-day operations, often working alongside staff to ensure an exceptional guest experience. The role is supported by an Operations Manager position and a Front of House position.
Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dynamic General Manager to lead the operations of our iconic Classic Harbor Line in Key West. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily business activities, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing staff, and driving overall growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong leadership mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering memorable experiences on the water. As the face of our operation, you will foster a positive team environment, uphold safety standards, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource management to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Recruit, interview, train, and develop team members to maintain a motivated and high-performing workforce.
- Oversee customer service excellence by addressing guest inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring memorable experiences.
- Manage inventory control, purchasing, and POS (Point of Sale) systems to optimize sales and operational efficiency.
- Implement effective marketing strategies to promote tours and special events while maintaining brand standards.
- Supervise financial activities such as payroll, bookkeeping, budgeting, and cash handling with precision and transparency.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies to ensure a secure environment for staff and guests.
- Utilize strong negotiation skills for vendor relations, purchasing agreements, and partnership opportunities.
- Monitor retail sales performance, manage pricing strategies, and oversee merchandising efforts to maximize revenue.
- Foster a team-oriented culture through employee orientation programs, ongoing training & development initiatives, and clear communication.
Requirements
- 2 Years management experience in hospitality environments with supervisory responsibilities.
- Maritime Experience. General knowledge of boat handling and vessel safety.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive results through effective management practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse guests.
- Demonstrated experience with inventory management, POS systems, purchasing procedures, and retail math.
- Skilled in customer service excellence with a focus on creating memorable guest interactions.
- Experience in recruiting, interviewing, training & development of staff members.
- Proficiency in budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and cash handling procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently with excellent organizational skills and time management.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies relevant to tourism or retail sectors; familiarity with wireless sales or merchandising is advantageous.
