POSITION TITLE: Ship Mate
REPORTS TO: Ship Captain
POSITION SUMMARY: The Ship Mate is responsible to assist the Captain to safely moor, operate and maintain company vessels. Assist passengers in loading and unloading safely and provide excellent customer service to all guests / passengers
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Know your work schedule and follow it with a high degree of reliability.
2. Interact with passengers/guests, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and customer service manner.
3. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
4. Perform your job according to standard operating procedures.
5. Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook.
6. Responsible for the safety of passengers and adherence to the agreed upon Beachside Resort / Ship Schedule
7. Assist in all aspects of vessel operations and maintenance, including maintaining cleanliness of all areas of the vessel and dock as directed by the Captain
8. Promptly report accidents, injuries, and property damage per U.S.C.G regulations at the direction of the Captain
9. Conduct daily checks of navigational equipment as directed by the Captain
10. Keep accurate communication flowing freely between Beachside Management and Ship Crew
11. Inform management promptly of any weather, maintenance, out of service situations or guest complaints as directed by the Captain.
12. Promote excellent guest service while “taxing” by demonstrating friendly, courteous and helpful attitudes toward all guests/passengers.
13. Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
14. Attend any trainings as requested by the Captain.
15. Continue to learn and grow in your position.
16. Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by the Captain.
17. Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
18. Arrange for reasonable accommodations for person(s) with disabilities.

20. Comply with all applicable federal, state, local and U.S.C.G laws and ordinances as they apply to the vessel, guest’s and employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Safely assist the operation of the boat in accordance with US Coast Guard regulations
· Pre and Post safety and engine checks at the start and end of every shift as directed by the Captain
· Assist passengers on and off
· Secure vessel for safe underway operations. Rig and handle mooring lines
· Greet all guests upon arrival and departure. Engage in conversation about Key West and the Beachside Resort during transport
· Assist Captain in maintenance of required log data
· Responsible to refuel and schedule pump outs as needed as directed by the Captain
· Obtain a valid First Aid/CPR Card within 30 days of employment
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
EDUCATION: High School graduate or GED
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience as a passenger vessel Mate required.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by Beachside Resort Schedule
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES: Valid Driver’s License
