Heavy Equipment Mechanic
South Florida | Great Pay | 3 Weeks PTO First Year + Birthday Off | Full Benefits
Durante Equipment is growing, and we are looking for a talented, motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic who takes pride in solving problems, keeping equipment moving, and being part of a team that wants to win.
We are one of South Florida’s fastest-growing equipment companies, proudly serving contractors with rentals, sales, parts, and service. Our leadership team has over 30 years of industry experience, and we are constantly improving, investing, and building a company where great people can build a long-term career.
At Durante Equipment, we are Driven to Deliver, with Old School Values, and a Passion to be the Best.
This is a great opportunity for someone who knows heavy equipment, can diagnose problems, works well independently, and wants to be part of a company where mechanics are valued as a critical part of the operation.
Why You’ll Want to Work Here
We offer generous paid time off in your first year — three weeks plus your birthday off, for a total of 128 hours. On top of that, we offer 9 paid holidays per year.
We also offer competitive pay based on experience, health insurance with 100% coverage for the employee baseline plan, employer-paid dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) with employer match, referral bonuses, employee uniforms, an Employee Assistance Program, office perks, and more.
You will be joining a team-oriented company with a strong reputation, steady work, and a real commitment to customer service, safety, and growth.
About the Role
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will diagnose, repair, service, and maintain a wide range of construction equipment. You will work on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and other major equipment components both in the shop and at customer jobsites.
This role is for someone who can think through problems, communicate clearly, manage their time, and keep equipment in top condition. Our customers depend on our equipment to get their work done, and our mechanics play a major role in making that happen.
What You’ll Do
You will repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems on various types of construction equipment. You will troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues in the shop and in the field to ensure machines are safe, reliable, and ready to work.
You will perform scheduled preventive maintenance, routine repairs, equipment inspections, safety reviews, clean-up, and pre-delivery inspections. Some welding may be required, including stick, MIG, and gas welding.
You will also complete work orders, look up parts, document maintenance work, communicate through email when needed, and work closely with coworkers and customers to make sure equipment is maintained to Durante standards.
This position may require travel to customer jobsites. Strong organization, time management, communication, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are important.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified candidates should have experience working on heavy equipment or machinery such as construction equipment, agricultural equipment, trucks, fleet equipment, rental equipment, or industrial equipment.
We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of mechanical, fleet, rental, service, or related equipment experience. Strong diagnostic ability, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to repair complex equipment problems are required.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, their own tools, and the ability to climb on and inspect large construction equipment regularly. Basic computer skills are also needed, including the ability to complete work orders, use applications, search for parts, and communicate electronically.
The right person will be self-motivated, reliable, safety-focused, organized, and a strong team player with the attitude and skill set to excel.
Work Environment
This role includes work in both shop and field environments. You may be exposed to outside weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, fumes, airborne particles, cold, and extreme heat.
Safety matters. Quality matters. Getting the equipment fixed right matters.
Experience That May Be a Fit
We encourage candidates to apply if they have experience as a heavy diesel mechanic, heavy-duty diesel mechanic, diesel engine mechanic, diesel truck mechanic, diesel service technician, certified diesel mechanic, heavy equipment diesel mechanic, construction equipment mechanic, excavator mechanic, backhoe mechanic, fleet mechanic, or equipment service technician.
Why Durante Equipment?
Because this is not just another mechanic job. This is a chance to join a growing company that values hard work, skill, accountability, and old-school pride in the job.
If you are a strong mechanic who wants great benefits, steady work, and the opportunity to be part of a company that is growing across South Florida, we want to hear from you.
