Job Summary:
The Counter Attendant is responsible for a variety of customer-related tasks, including greeting customers, taking orders, processing payments, and maintaining a clean and organized display area. Our counter attendants are the first and only point of contact with our customers, locals, and tourists visit our bakery not only for our delicious baked goods but also for the friendly customer experience.
Essential Functions
1. Customer Service:
- Greet customers promptly and courteously.
- Assist customers with inquiries, orders, and special requests.
- Professionally resolve customer complaints or issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the counter area.
- Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor and replenish inventory, supplies, and materials.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
2. Cash Handling:
- Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit, and other payment methods securely.
- Reconcile cash drawer and prepare daily cash drops.
3. Reporting:
- Suggest improvements to enhance service and efficiency.
- Also, other duties may be required as directed by your Lead/Supervisor.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for handling small items and operating equipment.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in hospitality is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a customer service or food service environment preferred.
- The experience of Barista is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
