Background: The Oldest House Museum features the authentic, original life and artifacts of Key West pioneers, history and culture. The Museum Shop is a well known Key West boutique, and importantly also the entry point for the Oldest House in all of South Florida. All staff learn about the history and culture of old Key West to better engage with shop customers encourage museum entrance.
Duties:
2 to 3 days per week (Fri-Sat-Sun only) 10 am- 4 pm (open/close)
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide info on unique shop products, museum and garden entry, and events.
- Conduct sales transactions and process payments accurately; open and close shop & museum.
- Maintain sales floor and displays
- Stay up-to-date with product knowledge and museum event schedule
- Collaborate with team members to achieve store goals
- Assist with inventory & restocking shelves as needed
Skills:
- Strong verbal communication skills to interact with customers; willingness to learn local history
- Experience in sales preferred, as the shop is a boutique and entry point to the museum
- Organizational skills to maintain a tidy and appealing sales floor and entry display
- Experience with Lightspeed POS or similar sales POS systems a plus
