Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Financial Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of KWAHS’s financial accounting, analysis and reporting through an accrual-based accounting system. The Financial Manager is responsible for ensuring best practices and ethics in all aspects of the not-for-profit’s financial operation.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitors and maintains internal financial controls, policies, and procedures in compliance with GAAP.
- Ensure ethical compliance with all federal and state financial requirements.
- Oversee general ledger activities, including fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and deferred accounts.
- Prepare and analyze trends and variances, identifying opportunities and problem areas.
- Lead annual audits in support of external auditors; address and implement findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with Executive Director and senior management to prepare annual budget.
- Provide data to the Executive Director to assist with strategic and operational forecasting and objectives.
- Track and provide reports related to grants and restricted/temporarily restricted accounts; develop and monitor grant budgets.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements for Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to prepare and manage grant applications and awards.
- Oversee AP/AR, payroll processing, benefits compliance, monthly close process, and reconciliations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience; not-for-profit experience preferred but not required.
- Proven record of leading financial close process.
- Meticulously organized and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Independent and flexible analytical person who can cope positively with ambiguity while maintaining accuracy and speed.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online; strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and use of audiovisual equipment for program delivery.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to lift, move or carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Schedule & Compensation:
This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. The role is based on a 40-hour work week. Starting salary is $80k, but will commensurate with experience and qualifications.
