Position Spa Director

Position Summary:
The Spa Director is responsible for the overall operations of the spa, fitness center and spa café
(where applicable), including maintaining high standards in spa/club services and operations, and maximizing profitability.
Core Responsibilities:
Direct the activities of spa, fitness center and spa café by giving guidance, leadership and instruction to associates.
Approach all encounters with guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
Responsible for overall budget approval authority for spa division departments, to include payroll expenses, revenue, inventory and all other expenses.
Monitor all spa related systems that impact the guest directly, to ensure proper procedures are in place and followed, which allow for an outstanding guest experience.
Communicate with guests and team members both verbally and in writing to answer questions and resolve concerns.
Research and develop new spa treatments and programs to create new packages.
Perform duties of programmers, reception, spa attendants and sales clerks to ensure procedures and quality standards are met.
Conduct regular spa staff meetings for the purpose of informing, training and inspiring staff.
Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the spa facility.
Facilitate the coordination of marketing initiatives, sales site visits and special requests, reservations, etc., to ensure understanding by hotel operations of procedures that may have potential impact.
Order equipment and supplies and maintain inventory control for all spa areas.
Ensure quarterly written maintenance inspections.
Ensure the effective resolution if any complaints, challenges occur.
Participate in property MOD program, weekly staff meetings, weekly Executive
Committee meetings and safety committee meetings.
Understand and apply the applicable Franchise and management’s Standard Operating
Procedures.
Provide CPR/First Aid as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
4-year college degree required
At least 3 years experience in Spa management required, with 1 year in top management of high quality, luxury-oriented resort spa or destination spa facility.
CPR certification preferred; ability to receive CPR certification required.
High work ethic, self-initiative , independent judgment
Proven customer service and problem solving experience
Regular attendance
Proven experience in a high pressure, sometimes stressful environment
May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property
Focus and maintain attention to multiple tasks, and meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions
Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times
Physical Requirements:
Stand, sit and walk for varying lengths of time, often long periods of time
Bend, stoop, squat and stretch
Lift approximately fifty (50) pounds of equipment or supplies on and off a cart, using safe lifting techniques
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, ten-key calculator, printers, multi-line tone tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment as needed
Know and be able to administer first aid
Direct evacuations in an emergency
