The Box Office Assistant is responsible for the operations of the Box Office at Marathon Community Theatre, including, but not limited to, ticket sales and reporting. The Box Office Assistant will also handle incoming donations (cash, check, and credit card) and must record them so that they can be accurately categorized and accounted for.
The Box Office Assistant is hired by the Board of Directors and reports directly to the General Manager.
The Box Office Assistant must possess a high level of personal motivation, be able to multitask, and complete all duties in a timely manner. Additionally, the Box Office Assistant is many times the “face and voice” of the theatre; therefore excellent communication and customer service skills are required for this position. Bookkeeping skills, computer literacy, and knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint (to provide reports as needed to the General Manager and Board) are recommended, but not required.
Daily Tasks:
- Conduct ticket sales, exchanges & returns.
- Print daily sales reports.
- Monitor email, voicemail and return phone calls with regard to ticket sales, and forward any other messages to the appropriate person.
- Manage the concession moneybag (balance the bags and request change as needed).
- Other tasks as determined by the General Manager.
The Box Office Assistant is a part-time position, paid hourly. The position generally requires 20 hours per week, with the work schedule shifting as needed throughout the MCT production season (October through June). This position is NOT a flexible hour position, and designated hours to arrive or leave are determined by the General Manager. Hours are recorded on time cards.
