Mathematics Instructor
Reports To: Principal
Performance Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Plan, develop and execute lessons that reflect the curriculum and the state’s core educational standards, the Mathematics Florida Standards in all of the high school mathematics disciplines: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus Honors, Probability and Statistics Honors, Calculus Honors, AICE Math.
-Adapt mathematics curriculum for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students.
-Provide group and individual instruction to motivate pupils, and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities.
-Assess student progress and ability to meet courses’ standards in mathematical knowledge and skills, and evaluate the academic and social growth of students.
-Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
-Employ a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing pupils, including demonstrations, discussions, lectures, and hands-on, collaborative activities.
-Actively engage in professional development opportunities and then implement the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.
-Create a classroom environment conducive to effective instruction.
-Use assessment data to assist administrators with placement of students in appropriate instructional or intervention programs.
-Effectively communicate with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, both successes and concerns.
-Serve a lunch or bus duty assignment, effectively run a Manta Mentoring group, and actively participate as a team member.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Florida certification in Mathematics (Grades 6-12) required
- Grades 8-12 teaching experience preferred
- ESOL and/or ESE Certification or Endorsement preferred
- Strong background in mathematics instruction and teacher training required
- Successful experience in facilitating student learning
- Demonstrated success as a mathematics teacher preferred
Job Types: Contract, Full-time
Pay: $54,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
