Job Summary
You will join Workwell’s collaborative Payroll department, which provides payroll support and guidance to a diversified customer base. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payroll processing and customer onboarding and a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. You will ensure accurate and timely payroll operations while building rapport and establishing trust with our customer base. It’s essential that your communication style is clear and easy to understand over the phone and in writing.
Essential Functions
- Work cross-functionally with Sales to ensure a seamless transition, setup, and configuration of payroll services for new customers.
- Facilitate a smooth onboarding experience for new customers while providing training and support for our payroll processes and requirements.
- Assist customers when necessary to accurately process their payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and promptly file payroll tax returns, manage tax deposits, and immediately resolve any tax-related issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service by professionally addressing payroll related inquiries, resolving discrepancies, and offering solutions.
- Actively listen to customers, understand their issues, and effectively communicate resolutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Become a subject matter expert to identify and adequately document payroll software issues.
- Identify and triage issues and escalate as appropriate.
Education and Experience
- 2+ years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role
- Experience in customer onboarding and providing training and support
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Computer and technology literacy, including proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional listening and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service skills and dedication to providing exceptional customer care.
- Ability to multitask and successfully operate in a fast paced, team environment.
