Job description
This positions priority is customer service and knowledge of seafood. You will be working in our seafood market primarily as a cashier. You will perform all cash register functions and assist customers during the check-out process in our retail market.
Job Summary:
Cashiers are responsible for providing an excellent guest experience with taking retail seafood orders in a timely and efficient manner. This is a full-time position located within the Retail Fish Market of the Key Largo Fisheries. Hours for this position fluctuate depending upon time of year.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and direct customers
- Take guests seafood orders and handle cash and credit transactions.
- Display, weigh, and pack fresh fish for customers.
- Package and label products
- Ensure retail store is maintained, clean, and well organized
- Provide accurate information (e.g. product features, pricing and after-sales services)
- Answer customers’ questions about specific products/services
- Complete required opening and closing checklist
- Ensure racks are fully stocked
- Coordinate with the Retail Sales Representatives team to provide excellent customer service (especially during peak times). Always demonstrate a sense of teamwork, initiative, and enthusiasm
- Stay up-to-date with new products/services
- Must be able to handle fish and seafood products
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Representative in the seafood industry, Sales Associate or similar role.
- Understanding of the retail sales process
- Familiarity with consumer behavior principles
- Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures
- Basic math skills
- Excellent communication skills, capable of building trusting relationships
- Ability to perform in fast-paced environments
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- High school degree
- Prior experience in retail or food service a plus but not required
Physical Demands: Standing & walking for long periods of time, lifting up to 40lbs, continuous fine hand manipulation including grasping, reaching, holding, carrying, etc., must be able to bend, stretch, reach overhead. Must be able to work in varying temperatures per department between 36 F to 80F'
